About the Mala

A mala is a strand of 108 beads used to keep count while reciting or repeating a mantra, a practice known in Sanskrit as japa. In Hindu tradition the beads are moved with the thumb against the middle finger, working around the strand one bead at a time.

Auro & Co Moment

There is a quiet rhythm to working a mala bead by bead, which is part of why the practice has lasted so long. Carnelian is traditionally linked with warmth and motivation, offered here as part of that tradition.

Complete the Experience
