A tall V-shaped vase in hand-blown recycled glass, relaxed while hot over a piece of Balinese gamal root so the glass hardens to the shape of the wood. Made by hand in Bali with traditional hand tools, it stands about 24.5cm tall and holds roughly 650ml.
The Story Behind It
Molten glass on wood is a Balinese craft: recycled glass is blown, then softened and draped over a piece of root so the two fit as one. The gamal tree it uses is fast-growing and widely planted across Indonesia, often as living fencing.
Why You'll Love It
A strong V silhouette that suits a single branch or a few long stems
650ml capacity, enough water for cuttings to root
Glass formed around its own piece of root, so it is a true one-off
Works for houseplant propagation, a zen garden or floating candles
You snip a trailing stem from the pothos, drop it into the V-shaped vase on the kitchen sill and check on it every few days, until fine white roots start to show through the glass.
