Lotus Wall Shelf, Whitewashed Mango Wood

Product Overview

This mango wood wall shelf pairs a carved lotus design with a single display ledge. A whitewash finish softens the wood without hiding the grain. It measures 38 x 16 x 28cm and weighs 1.4kg, a good size for a tealight, a small plant or a few crystals, and light enough to hang above a bedside table.

The Story Behind the Design

In Hindu and Buddhist traditions the lotus is admired for rising from muddy water to bloom clean above the surface, and it is traditionally associated with purity. The Buddha and the goddess Lakshmi are often shown seated or standing on an open lotus, and it is the national flower of India.

Why You'll Love It

• The carved lotus means the shelf still looks finished when it is empty
• Ledge depth of 16cm takes a pillar candle, a small pot or a stack of cards
• Whitewash pairs well with pale linen, rattan and light oak
• Compact 38cm width fits beside a mirror or above a bedside table
• An easy gift for a new home, a yoga room or a reading corner
