Product Overview
A small glass decanter shaped like a duck, with its own glass stopper, sitting on a chunk of gamal wood. The glass is recycled and hand-blown in Indonesia, then laid over the wood while still hot so it cools into the shape of the base beneath it. It stands about 19cm tall.
The Story Behind It
Gamal (Gliricidia sepium) is a fast-growing tree that grows widely across Indonesia. In Central America it is known as madre de cacao, because it has long been planted to shade cacao trees. Here a gnarled piece of it becomes the base, and no two pieces of wood are the same shape.
Why You'll Love It
- A duck silhouette in clear glass, which reads as playful rather than fussy on a dresser or drinks trolley
- Comes with a matching glass stopper
- The glass is shaped over the wood while hot, so base and vessel fit each other exactly
- Holds water, a single stem or simply catches the light on a sunny sill
- A conversation piece of a gift for someone with a new kitchen or a houseful of plants

FAQ
Does it come with the stopper?
Yes, a matching glass stopper is included.
Will mine look like the photo?
Close, but not identical. The glass is shaped by hand over a natural piece of wood, so the outline, grain and glass vary from piece to piece, and tiny bubbles or light marks in the glass are part of how it is made.
How should I clean it?
Wash the glass by hand and keep the wooden base dry. Wood and glass are joined, so it should not go in a dishwasher or be soaked.
