Product Overview

Selenite takes its name from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon — a nod to the milky, lunar way the crystal refracts light. Selenite is quarried from Morocco, where large deposits of high-quality selenite are found. This pencil point tower measures approximately 20cm in length, and is a substantial and dramatic specimen piece. Stood on a shelf or bedside table, the tapered form catches light at the tip and reads well grouped with shorter pieces.

Selenite towers are particularly effective when arranged in groups. A pair of 20cm pencil points flanking a taller specimen creates

Selenite is a variety of gypsum, one of the softer minerals (Mohs 2), which means it scratches easily and should not be wetted - moisture can dull the surface over time.

FAQ

How should I care for it? Dust with a soft dry cloth. Keep polished points out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade some stones over time.

Will mine look exactly like the photo? Because the stone is natural, colour, markings and exact size vary from piece to piece, so yours will be individual.

Anything to avoid with selenite? Keep it dry — selenite is soft and water-soluble, so wipe only with a dry cloth and avoid damp surfaces.
