The Story Behind the Design
In the Ramayana, Hanuman is the devoted companion of Rama, celebrated for his strength, courage and loyalty. His joined hands express devotion, and the mace, or gada, is his traditional weapon. Many Hindus recite the Hanuman Chalisa, a forty-verse hymn in his honour, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
