Product Overview
Turn this figure round and you will find an Om symbol cast into the back. On the front, Saraswati sits on a lotus pedestal with her veena, her expression composed. It is cast in brass, about 5.5cm tall and 45g, sized for a home shrine, a practice room or a teacher's desk.
The Story Behind the Design
Saraswati is honoured in Hindu tradition as the goddess of learning, speech, music and the arts. The veena she plays is one of the oldest Indian stringed instruments, and the Om on the back of this figure is the sacred syllable chanted at the opening of many Hindu prayers.
